MICRORESISTIVITY LOG

Мicroresistivity tools (microlog) measure the resistivity of the flushed zone (Rxo) and delineate permeable beds. The measurement comprises two short-spaced devices with different depths of investigation, providing resistivity measurements of small volumes of mudcake and formation adjacent to the borehole. The presence of a mudcake, identified by a "positive" separation of the two curves, indicates an invaded and, therefore, permeable formation.

Micro Spherical Focused Laterolog tool measures the resistivity of the flushed zone of the borehole as well as microresistivity tool (microlog). The electrodes of the MSFL are mounted on the non-conducting pad, minimizing outside effects and ensuring a high vertical resolution. The microcaliper measurement of the borehole is also provided.

Microlog accompanied by MSFL solve the following tasks:

  • - measuring flushed zone resistivity;
  • - identification and differentiation of the reservoirs;
  • - determination of net thickness;
  • - measure mud resistivity in rugose zones;
  • - estimation of the saturation combined with laterolog.

 A high-conductive mud is a preferred fluid in the hole for an MSFL and microlog.
